Cattle Vaccines, Herd Health & Farming Facts | Fun Fact Tuesday
Fun fact Tuesday: I can't stop the false information being spread about farming and farming practices, but as a farmer myself and an advocate for farming, it is my job to slow the spread. Being in the meat industry I hear so many lies that people believe and it makes me sad that they believe what they read on the internet or what someone tells them instead of just asking a farmer. Many farmers vaccinate their cattle, it was never a problem for any consumers until they came out with this mRna vaccine.
Though I will agree that this particular vaccine is questionable and shady, (we will not give this to our cattle), it does not mean that the other vaccines are bad and poisoning the meat. And no they don't slip in poison or anything else into the rest of the vaccines. I am saddened that a person will not support a farmer because they find out they vaccinate, to me, this is a very selfish thing to say to a farmer who cares deeply for their animals. But by all means, support grocery store meat where you dont know anything at all about what you will consume or where it comes from. I for one will not sit and watch all of my cattle die of a disease that could have been prevented with a simple vaccine.
Diseases can hit out of no where no matter how closed your herd is. Sure, if you have 5-10 head maybe you wont have a problem. But for the farmers that are trying to feed their community, they have alot of cattle and they want to keep them healthy and safe. I have personally seen and experienced what happens when a farmer does not vaccinate and has a sickness go through their herd so I will not let animals suffer and potentially die because I’m afraid of getting attacked by misinformed people. For cattle that will end up being consumed, they are vaccinated early on in their life, (1-3 months) and never have to be given anything again, it will not affect or leach into the meat. Would you rather eat meat from an animal that is skinny from being sick all its life or one that is full of abscesses or one that is considered chronic and have to be given antibiotic every 30 days because it cant stay healthy on its own? Neither would I, this is what vaccines are for, to keep an animal healthy.
So in conclusion, vaccines are a valuable asset to farmers and are not poison like some are being told. I have been in the farming industry for 38 years, I would like to think I know a little about this stuff.
